Demonstrating Minds

Helsinki (Finland) | 9. October 2015 - 20. March 2016

Disagreements in Contemporary Art

The theme show DEMONSTRATING MINDS Disagreements in Contemporary Art explores the dynamic between art and society. In their work, the featured artists comment on the economy, politics as well as art and the practice of art.

The conceptual framework of the show is the French philosopher Jacques Rancière’s idea about democracy and politics as dissent. Art, too, is at its best when it is permitted to fulfil its basic function: to disagree and and to subvert. The show featured some twenty international artists, including Kader Attia, Cristina Lucas, Tom Molloy and Mika Rottenberg.

Tanja Boukals “The Melilla Project” was presented for the first time.
