The exhibition Nessun' Isola. Trame di dignità (No Island. Textiles of Dignity) marks the conclusion of HOSPITIUM—The Lampedusa Project, an in-depth exploration of both the history and contemporary situation of the island.
Working at a high international level on issues such as migration, cultural uprooting, and human dignity for several years, Tanja Boukal developed new works using various craft techniques. Starting from the museum entrance and with a delicate intervention in the permanent collection of historical artifacts on the ground floor, her contemporary works develop a path revisiting the boundaries of the place, questioning the very idea of insularity by reflecting the situation of Lampedusa, suspended between continents, cultures, and politics.
